We want YOUR feedback about our Carers Groups!

Carer Support Wiltshire run many groups across the county which include carer cafés, creative groups, structured informative groups, and specialised groups, including, mental health and parent carer.

Most of the groups we facilitate are very popular and well supported by carers. However, in some of the areas in Wiltshire we are not running as many groups as we would like to. Therefore, we are not reaching as many carers who may want to access our service.

As a result of this, Carer Support Wiltshire are beginning to think about how we can offer a more equal service throughout Wiltshire and we would very much like to receive feedback from carers who attend our groups...
  • What is good about the groups?
  • What could be improved?
  • What information and advice you would like to see in future groups?

At each group we run we will be taking evaluation forms so that we can find out what you would like to see in future. As we begin to review our groups we will keep you fully informed. This process is around improving our service to you, reaching more carers, and listening to what you have to say about how we can provide a better, more equal program across Wiltshire.

To send your feedback, please email Tom Blowers (Service Delivery Team Leader) on Tom@carersinwiltshire.co.uk or call 0800 181 4118.

Carer Workshops: Writer in Residence

Wiltshire Council’s library service is working with the regional literature development agency Cyprus Well to run some workshops with a writer in residence. We would like to run some of these workshops for carers.

The workshops will be free to attend, and can be in different places in the county.  They are likely to run between January and March 2013. We would like to know whether there is interest from you, and if so what sort of workshops you might be interested in.

Here are some ideas for the theme of the workshop just to give you an idea of what is possible – though you may also want to tell us if there is a different area you would like to explore:
  •  Exploring poetry writing
  • Creative writing
  • Getting your work published as an eBook
It would also be good to know whether you would like creative writing sessions focussed on the carer experience, or whether you’d like the chance to think about something completely different!  Your ideas and suggestions for how they might use these writer workshops, and whether you would like to join a class, will be welcome.

Please let us know by calling 0800 181 4118 or email admin@carersinwiltshire.co.uk by 19th September 2012.

Trowbridge dementia support group expands

A Trowbridge dementia day club is to open on Saturdays for the first time.

Demand for places at Alzheimer’s Support’s Polebarn House club has increased steadily and the club, which has been running for 17 years, has decided to open at the weekend to help people on the waiting list.

Manager Jenny Mayne said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer the extra day. We will split the Saturday into morning and afternoon sessions and people can transfer to a full weekday as spaces arise.”
