Dementia Carers Information Support Groups in Salisbury




This programme has been developed to provide information and support to carers of people living with dementia.
 
You are invited to join Alzheimer's Society for a series of six workshops covering issues that may arise for family members and friends of a person who has had a recent diagnosis of dementia.
 
The programme provides an opportunity for you to talk in a friendly and confidential environment about your experiences of caring and supporting the person with dementia and the impact it is having on you.

Topics covered:
1. Introduction to Dementia
2. Understanding Dementia
3. Welfare Rights
4. Support services available
5. Planning for the future
6. Nominated speakers & light buffet lunch

Free training for dementia carers - 26th November - 1:30-3:30pm in Salisbury

Do you care for a relative or friend who has dementia?

We are hosting a free training session about managing problems in the home when caring for someone with dementia on

Tuesday 26th November 2013 between 1:30 - 3:30pm

at 15 New Street, Salisbury SP1 2PH.


The 2 hour session will cover:
- identifying the causes of problems
- finding ways to reduce difficulties
- methods to help share the pain.

The training will be facilitated by Elizabeth Bartlett, a dementia trainer and consultant.

Course for carers of those with mental health illness

A COURSE for carers of people with mental illness is to be run in Salisbury.

The six-session evening course being run by national charity Rethink Mental Illness is designed to give family members and friends of those with mental health problems a better understanding of mental illness, the law and the mental health system as well as to advise them on how to look after themselves.

A cross sector day for discussion and sharing ideas for those working in elderly and dementia care or for those caring for a family member.

The day has been inspired by an exhibition of images from Burgate photography students entitled ‘Mind my Memories’ displayed at Salisbury Hospital during February and March. ArtCare have also been delivering activity and reminiscence workshops with elderly patients at Shaftesbury Hospital for 10 years.

You are invited to a special free event as part of a new Creative and Performing Arts project for over 50s in
Salisbury called Art & Age.

A chance to try out free singing, dancing, poetry and collage workshops and have your say in helping us plan the bigger project by contributing your suggestions and ideas. We need your input to make this project work for you!

Please bring along one of your favourite things as a talking point, or to use as creative inspiration.
